T’was the Night Before Traveling

IMG_1644Tomorrow is the day. It’s incredible to think that in twenty-four hours I’ll be on my way to London to begin Semester at Sea. After all the shots. All the scholarship applications. All the cramming into a suitcase. It’s here. Tomorrow I’ll embark on a journey that most people can’t imagine… and I want to share it with you.

There’s a whirlwind going through my head right now. I’ll admit that I’m a little nervous. I’m mostly excited though. Some aspects I’ve completely visualized, but I’m going in blind with others. Like Senegal. What the heck goes on in Senegal? I guess we’re about to find out.

All I know is I can’t even wrap my head around what I’m about to experience.

I should probably go to bed, but who am I kidding? There’s no way I’m sleeping tonight.

I’m going to start this little adventure off with an excerpt from one of my favorite books. I know it’s a little cliché to quote Dr. Seuss at a time like this, but it just seems to fit.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

– Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go
