When child stars try to transition into an adult audience, they usually either fail miserably or they succeed, but manage to jump off the deep end while doing so. Well, Miley Cyrus has jumped into the deepest part of the ocean in an almost see-through bra, while straddling a wrecking ball, and managing to twerk at he same time. I’ll congratulate Miley for transitioning from America’s Sweetheart, Hannah Montana, into America’s obsession (which could also include the title, “America’s Favorite Twerker”), but she has gotten a little odd to say the least. She lost some of her male audience when she axed her hair and lost even more of her female audience when she axed Liam. However, a lot of those followers are back plus more because of her latest chaos.

With the release of “We Can’t Stop” she gained a party anthem and one of the craziest videos of all time. She broke records on Youtube that put Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” to shame. There was almost a parental uprising when she performed on the MTV VMA’s and got a little raunchy with a foam finger. As a result, the bookstore at my campus put this in the spirit section…

“We Can’t Stop” was only to be replaced by her next single, “Wrecking Ball.”

I’m not going to lie: I first heard “Wrecking Ball” while driving and rocking out to the radio, and after hearing it was like, “Wow, Miley, I’m proud of you. It’s a deep song. It’s not dirty. The melody is good. Good job.” Then I went to watch the video.

What are this, Miley? I may never look at a sledgehammer the same way again!

She is about to host Saturday Night Live this weekend. Her new song, “23” was just released with Wiz Khilifa and Juicy J, which is… well, not Hannah Montana. Who knows what she’ll do next? Perhaps Cyrus for president?

Whether you’re pro-Miley, con-Miley, or like me and are on the fence (or in this case, on the swinging wrecking ball), we can congratulate Miley in successfully transitioning into the adult entertainment world. Take “adult entertainment world” however you wish.
